i tried skype and had a lot of problems with it going in and out during a conversation... i'll stick with ICQ or a normal phone

Skype is the shit. I'm trying to get people on it because it's good for conferencing and it encrypts the chats.

Skype automatically encrypts calls, chats and file transfers before sending it through the internet so no-one can intercept your call, text or file transfer. And it?s completely free of advertising, so you won?t be disturbed by annoying pop-ups or banners.

It's also nice being able to call landlines. I dont have a landline phone, just a cell so I use this. They are currently offering free US calls from within the US. Another nice option is you can get a phone number that anyone can call. I was in Paris for a month and I had a local number here in southern california and people here were able to call me over there without having to pay international costs.

Also offers new video features for MAC & PC.

I only use Skype during 1on1 conversations, but anything else, esp for group chat, I use Ventrilo. Ventrilo has really nice codecs.

Skype is good...but when ICQ is one of the top ways that clients get in touch with you ....its not easy just to abandon ship on ICQ

I like ICQ but skype fucking rocks, i'm getting everyone i know addicted. Sooooo much easier than typing to people and less hassle than a phone call

If you think Skype sucks, you probably are using a shitty ISP and/or have a shitty connection.
