I got this one from my 5 year old last night at bed time:

"Daddy, I've been thinking - I know people are born from mommy's tummies, but what about a long time ago? How could any person be born if there was no mommy first to have them?"

One of the neighbor kids told my son when he was about 7 that there was no Santa Claus. He said he has suspected it all along so we had the "discussion". I'm thinking "Rock on - this year I'm finally going to get credit for the really good stuff I buy that I stick Santa's name on!".

He gets up, runs to the tree and his stockings and goes on and on about how great Santa is ;) Apparently Santa is believable if he gives things. It was another year or so before he finally didn't believe for good.

I remember when I figured it out and was sworn to secrecy not to tell my 4 year younger brother. It took me from the time I swore until the time I found him (less than 5 minutes) to spill the beans. I think he's still mad

I've got a 15 year old and he helps me with the Santa stuff for my 6 year old now. Pretty good bonding to get to do that. He really gets into it.

I grew up in a house where there were many kids and we ranged in age so as each of us got a little older and figured out there was no santa, my Mom would tell us that "the first time I hear you say you dont beleive in Santa is the last time Santa brings you any gifts" which basically meant if we told our younger siblings then we would not get any presents....and if you knew my Mom you would know she meant exactly what she was saying....so I was like 16 (the oldest, while the youngest was like 4) running downstairs to see what Santa had brought ;)

( unless he's mentally challenged or something, in which case, kindly disregard my comment )
I was actually sure he didn't but this was a decent set up that he couldn't see through or answer in his own head quickly enough .. I am sure he had some arguments at school when they all went back last year .. either that or he kept it to him self .. he was pretty convinced when all was said and done .. gave me a decent chuckle and to be honest I was very happy for the fleeting second that he "believed" is something great and good instead of video game brutality and living through a 200mph car wreck only to win the race ..or losing the cops after jumping your car across building to building and dodging bullets like a ninja ..
              No sig .. just me

Now that is one smart mama!
so you had to 'believe' in Santa into your 20's - that is a great gift to give your sibling -keeping the dream alive for them.
when did they eventually find out I wonder?

Santa brought her a computer and Rock Band. She believes! She believes! One more year reprieve.

My 8 year old, said but Mommy, YOU are Santa Claus...I laughed and asked why. Her reply was " because you are silly!" and you have all the right answers... too cute.

I dunno about everyone else but I find the whole santa thing disturbing. I thought "CHRISTmas" was about remembering that prophet who got murked on the cross...lying to and coddling weakness in children is why western culture is full of social disorders. By 8 an eastern world child knows as much as a 16 year old American. I'm sure they aren't as "happy" as an American youth but happiness is relative... Do you think the animals in the Zoo who look "happier" are truly better off than the ones in the wild? Peoples ideas of how they love their family are pretty warped.

If someone asks me if I believe in Santa Claus, I say this.

Santa Claus represents Christmas magic. I believe in Christmas magic 100%.

I believe in Hannukamas, you get 8 days of presents and bonus ones on Xmas
And since the other days of presents was from Me, I got the 'you are the best mom in the whole world' compliment. Even when I'm crabby she said LOL> ahhhh, love the holidays.
