What would you do with your money if you were getting older and had no kids ?

Just some random thought..... if you were having some nice savings/investments and were getting old, but had no kids and no wife/husband/life partner.... (and no really close relatives)

would you blow the money on yourself on some ridicolous things suddenly before you die? Or would you decide that what you worked for most of your life, goes for some charity of your choice, after you're dead? Or anything else?

No life partner/spouse? No close relatives at all? Any close friends? This is a pretty sad hypothetical story you're telling...

I'd blow all the money, then jump out of a plane with no parachute.

I'd travel the world and spend most of it on hookers/booze.

Leave it to my dogs. I love hearing about people leaving homes and large amounts of money to animals.

I'd donate it to the auto industry . . . . either that or mortgage companies.

true, seems sad. I didn't say "no friends", but how common is it to leave the money for friends? I guess it goes to family 99% of the time.

i am just saying you work hard so get a good amount of savings and you just dont get married, dont have kids. You can even live the playboy lifestyle, but then it means no serious, long lasting relationsips, so you wouldn't have anyone worth leaving most of your $$$ to...

But if I had no close family I'd divide it up among a couple of my closest friends.

Is dying on the day you go broke tragic, or perfect timing?

You could pre-pay for the most kick ass funeral/wake party ever.

"Getting older" is not the same as dying, which a lot of you are talking about. So by "getting older" are we talking about 50s or like 70s...

If 50s, I would make sure that retirement was taken care of (investments, House paid off, savings, etc.) and then enjoy the rest. If 70s, possibly create some kind of charity or give money to some charity I believe in.

hmm, If I was nearing the end.
                            1. I'd be a sugardaddy to some 18 year old strippers
                            2. buy lots of viagra
                            3. whatever money was left I'd set up a trust fund that would award college scholarships to those who couldn't afford it
