Does Nevada still have a helmet law for over 21?

the latest issue of easy rider has a list of the states
Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
    think about that

      Yeah, I just found it.

I have trouble relying on sites that may or may not be updated.

I grew up not wearing a helmet. When I go to states that don't require them, you can be sure I won't wear one . . . unless I hit hail in NM, then I put it on for sure.

              That stuff hurts.

That was one of the craziest things I first noticed when I came to the US, people not wearing helmets.

To me it means you have no brains to protect. So what if you have been doing it for years. You take risks evertime you walk out the door but why take unneccesary ones especially if you have a family depending on you.

Personally, I think it's foolish to ride bear-headed. But, it's debatable whether the law should make you.

Not in the slightest. Most of the states I will be going thru have very few cars on their freeways, and freeways are a lot safer than surface streets.

That is because you have been brainwashed, but I don't have time to argue the benefits/drawbacks of motorcycle helmets.

As far as my family, they are grown, and will be well taken care of in case of my demise. Someone will start a GFY charity thread for them.

                              Thanks, and I will.

One thing about helmets. They give you a false sense of security. I know I ride a lot faster and harder wearing leathers and a helmet as opposed to when I an bare-headed and wearing a t-shirt.

                                Old-school bikers dont wear helmets.

Its their choice, dont try to argue.

My uncle and I used to battle about this subject.

you'll need a helmet for St George to protect you against those inbred Mormons. That place has worse traffic than Vegas.

I shouldn't be in St George for more than 5 minutes as far as riding time.

"Serious" injuries are seldom if ever prevented by a helmet. The brain hitting the inside of the skull is the problem. A helmets purpose is to absorb energy, delaying or reducing sudden deceleration.

The fact is at speed it doesn't really make a difference. You're fucked either way. Whiplash being a major factor in this type of brain damage isn't helped by helmet use either.

Avoiding the accident in the first place is the real issue. Helmets reduce your side vision, reduce your hearing, cause heat stress ... ALL situational awareness levels drop when wearing a helmet.

Please don't spread the fairy-tale that accidents are ok if you are wearing a helmet ... too many new riders get a false feeling of safety just because they are wearing one.

It falls back to the costs of medical care from riders that are not wearing helmets. The helmet law in the states that have them are purely financially driven. I know wearing a helmet has personally saved my life, but protection is not the main reason for the law.

Helmets should absolutely be voluntary and the choice of the rider. Whether it is crazy not to wear one is a moot point. I do think that no wearing one should be in the same realm as smoking, and you are responsible for the costs of your injuries.

                                                  Freedom of choice people!

I would figure the chances are a hell of a lot higher of getting into a minor accident where a helmet would help.

It would be very hard to prove one way or the other that the increased situational awareness etc from no helmet outweighs the increased risk of head injury in a minor spill.

Sounds a bit like the same logic as my buddy who would never wear steel capped boots. His reasoning being that if something really heavy fell on your foot, the steel cap would slice your toes right off rather than just crushing them and possibly being easier to fix. He didn't think the fact that he would be protected most of the time counted for anything.
