Over the past ten years or so my dad has become such a conspiracy theorist that my mom and I place bets amongst ourselves on which news stories are going to spark a theory. Do you have a conspiracy theorist in your family and if so what is their most 'interesting' theory?
Do you have any conspiracy theorists in your family?

I'm pretty cynical myself but I don't consider myself a conspiracy theorist. There's just a lot going on in this world we don't know anything about.Media Buyer - Sell me your traffic!

I am cynical too but that isn't the same thing as thinking everything is a conspiracy.Originally posted by pradaboyI'm pretty cynical myself but I don't consider myself a conspiracy theorist. There's just a lot going on in this world we don't know anything about.Comment

i asked them to keep in touch by e-mail because i was traveling all over the world and living in europe and didn't like calling... they looked at me like i was insane and explained to me that they can't turn the computer on because "they" will know and watch them through the computer.Originally posted by bauschMy mom thinks people watch her through the tv, she says their "eyes" can see her and for years she avoided watching the tv
its comical for a few minutes... then it crosses into disturbing fairly quickly... not long after that you are jsut wondering if they are dangerous and planning to do something bad. they live in a trailer in the forest in alaska at the end of the road in the middle of nowhere... with at least 20 cameras surrounding their house (some with night vision). its all quite bizarre. if i wanted to push them over the edge, all i would have to do is go there, rent a black lincoln towncar and drive by their house 4-5 times in day.Comment

Do they hear voices? I think my mother hears voices sometimes... I think it's a mild mental illness like schizophrenia. Nothing too severe, but something that certain drugs can help contain, it's like some sort of chemical imbalance.Originally posted by Pleasurepaysi asked them to keep in touch by e-mail because i was traveling all over the world and living in europe and didn't like calling... they looked at me like i was insane and explained to me that they can't turn the computer on because "they" will know and watch them through the computer.

My dad. He keeps reprimanding my younger sister that her boyfriend's 'mohawk' haircut is an alien antenna. He said, this antenna gathers all information from us and eventually, transmits it to their space station.
I don't think the couple could still make it to their third monthsary..

its not really anything like that (i hope) - they just spent so much time isolated from the world that they sort of created their own alternate reality. my aunt doesn't go out, doesn't do anything, isn't social as she was when she was younger. there was a time when they were fairly normal and social. the worst thing about paranoia is that paranoia creates more paranioa... so it becomes a debilitating problem. its been interesting to watch... but from a distance.Originally posted by bauschDo they hear voices? oh lord
My dad will have conversations with me over my VOIP phone and stop mid sentence and say 'we should talk about this in person when they aren't listening'. This man is amazingly smart but conspiracy is his new hobby.Comment

Yea I'm the same, when things don't add up I start asking questions.Originally posted by pradaboyI'm pretty cynical myself but I don't consider myself a conspiracy theorist. There's just a lot going on in this world we don't know anything about.
I know this is a little offtopic Sarah but I thought I'd mention it, last night I was watching one of those Alex Jones programs. I watched this with an open mind.
Alex Jones is pretty well known in the conspiracy theory circles in America and on the internet. Hes been on tv, has his own radio show etc
On the program I watched he was talking about how civil liberties are being erroded and how people were being censored by their governments, but then I thought. How come he hasn't be censored by his government ? I would have thought that they would have seen him as a threat if he was speaking the truth about what was really going on, how come his websites haven't been hacked, how come he hasn't been imprisoned.
I couldn't understand why he hasn't be silenced and then I thought, what if he was a CIA agent and the sites are nothing more than a front to reel in anyone who doesn't believe whats on the news. They'd have IP addresses of everyone who visited the sites and could gather plenty of info on the visitors.
Its an interesting theory
Just doesn't make sense to me, this guys been going for years building up a following and nothings happened to him, perhaps its because he has a free pass....... or maybe hes just talking a load of shit and no one cares

I'm not a nut about conspiracy's, but I don't take everything at face value and I don't believe everything, *we*, as American's are told. I think it's healthy to think outside the box and challenge data that is fed to us. The odds are, we will never know the truth about many things that have happened and I will never believe our government has always been 100% honest with us. I don't need a tinfoil hat, but I am also not a sheep...No sig for you!Comment
