There are some really good led bulbs out there that can be easily dimmed. Unfortunately, they are still in the $50/bulb price. Hopefully that will drop and we can get rid of these horrible CFLs that take forever to reach full brightness and don't dim well.

p.s. open up the base on one of those CFL bulbs. There are quite a few components in there to make it work.
