My Father. He died peacefully after suffering for many months. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
RIP Dad.Comment

Twice. My dad died in front of me from an asthma attack and I was at the top of some stairs when my mom fell backwards down them onto a concrete floor. Actually, she didn't die then, but she died a few hours later in the hospital. Was strange really. She was unconcious and I said the things I needed to say and she died as soon as I had finished.
And no, I didn't push ;)http://pandemos.net

My father had one heart attack and died in my arms while waiting for the ambulance way back in '76 when I was in my mid 20's.

Yes - My Grandmother ... She passed in 1997 from colon cancer.
Watching someone you love pass away just the most emptying experience one can have.
I'll never forget watching my grandfather sitting there holding her hand and crying like a baby as the staff telling him that they had to take her away once she passed.
I hope to never see something like that again.Comment

My wife's best friend went to the hospital last year complaining of back pain only to learn he had cancer in his spine. He didn't get out of the hospital and suffered for six weeks (of hell) including chemo treatments etc.... while he whithered away in front of us. Watching him accept the fact his life was over was very sad and his bravery was an inspiration to us. It especially hit home - as we realized what a joy being alive is and how short a time we really have here.
My wife didn't leave his side for all the time he was in - as they had been best friends since childhood (he died at 48). We both were with him as he died listening to a video of his only son (6yrs old) singing to him on a tape he had made a couple of years earlier.
Earlier that morning there was the most incredible sunrise, the nicest in memory to hit town and the three of us watched it in silence and awe.
His last breaths later that morning were slow and labored and he finally just let go. His son's wee voice kept singing on the tape as my wife and I sat with him, cried, said our goodbyes and wished him peace...
RIP BirdyComment

When I was 14 I saw a kid, he was 16, on a scooter get knocked down by a van. He was tossed over the van and I walked around it to see. Two people were holding him while he choked up blood and died. I was too terrified to walk away.
Ended up in the Old Bailey giving evidence against the driver, he was drunk when he did it. Got his license suspended.
Not something I want to repeat, I think if it were someone close to me I would break down.Comment

I have never seen anyone killed but I got to the scene of an accident about 3 minutes after a man walked across a dark country road and was dead on the side while people waited for the police to arrive....

Depends on what you mean. As far as (in a military engagement) taking someone down and therefor witnessing their death, the answer is yes; up close and also through a scope. As fas as just witnessing someone die in everyday life, not that I can recall.Originally posted by m0307Who here has ever witnessed death? I do, when my mom was administered by a drug that put her into sleep. She's been comatosed due to Aneurism and there's no way to revive her again.
I was beside her when her lifeline went straight and her oxygen supply was removed.

My friend was driving in front of me and hit a guardrail and went sideways, didnt look too bad of an accident.
When I went to the car, he was making his last gasp and died. The guardrail had knocked a huge piece of the back of his skull out.
In eight grade I was playing catch with a friend, when he sat down complaining he was out of breath. His eyes rolled back in his head and he passed out.
Soon he had blood coming out of his nose and ears.
An artery attached to his heart had burst.Comment

few weeks back i was one of the first cars to arrive at a 3 car accident, old cj jeep had rolled over, and one of the gas tanks had exploded, tires then caught on fire, all happened to quick for the girl in the front passenger seat to get out. Took about a week to get the image of her body out of my head.ICQ: 275335837Comment

Yes I held my mothers hand and looked into her eyes as she died. It was awful and her eyes will always haunt me. They go flat when they die. Reminds me of the old saying "Eyes are the windows to your soul" I saw the life leave her eyes. Amazing but sad. She had a rare form of breast cancer.

Back in college some asswipe on a ninja was doing double the speed limit on the busy main street right thru campus. He lost control and plowed into someone and barely clipped two others. The guy on the bike and one of the pedestrians died. I could only see it happen way off in the distance... there were plenty of people who saw it happen a few yards away from where they stood. It was fucked up.Comment

I went on a trip to California a few years back and had a chance to visit Catalina Island. Once I got off the ferry with my family we noticed people trying to resuscitate a diver. People speculated that she died because she got tangled in some really thick sea weed and drowned.Comment

About 10 or 12 years ago I was driving on the freeway when a mini van in front of me suddenly crossed the median and into oncoming traffic. The mini van hit four cars including a big truck, flipped over, and caught fire. Myself and a few other people pulled two people from the back of the burning mini van but was unable to get to the two in the front seat. They died in front of us, screaming, burning to death, and there was nothing we could do.Herschel Savage

1. I was walking home from high school in 1989 and I saw a Honda Goldwing motorcycle slam into an 80 year old asian lady. She flew through the air about 30 feet and landed on her face. She was face up, but belly down. When the ambulance showed up, she still had a pulse, but it stopped when they tried to move into a position to stabilize her.
2. About 5 years ago, I saw a motorcycle being chased down the highway. I was standing outside 7-Eleven and saw him hit a steel construction plate on the road and flip end over end to his death. He was riding about 130mph.
3. This one I didn't witness happen, but I saw the aftermath. My dad and I were coming back from a fishing trip and saw a convertible that had flipped over on the highway. All we saw was the car with a long red streak where it had skidded to a stop.DiaperedOnline.com - Yup. It's diaper fetish.Comment

The closest I cam was when Marc and I heard an accident from our house (which faces the freeway). Marc being the hero that he is, decided to go make sure everyone was ok. It late was night and not a lot of traffic. Half of the car that was hit was in the left lane and the woman involved stayed in her car to call the police instead of getting out.
Marc went to tell her to get out because she was obviously in shock. After crossing one side of the freeway, and right when he got across the median, her car got hit. I saw her fly out of her car and Marc jumping back to the side. Thankfully he didn't get hit, saved by two seconds. I ran across the freeway myself to make sure Marc was ok. I saw her lying on the freeway just in time for yet another car to run her over. It looked surreal, it's amazing how vulnerable our bodies are.Regards,
