For the most part you are screwed. You can try some of the stain remover, but I dont think they will work. You will end up needing to replace the carpet. Unless it happened where it can be covered for now.

Throw white wine on it. Had a full glass of red wine all over me once (white shirt ouch) and throwing a glass of white wine over it made it all dissappear. However if its an old stain you are probably fucked ;)))

Salt ! Whenever you spill wine, put salt on the stain, a LOT of salt, it'll absord the wine and then you can wash what's left of the stain more easily.

But you have to do it right away....if not..well..you're screwed !

you should have poured salt all over the spot upon spilling it, it would have sucked up most of it, then try and get the rest of it out with water

white wine always works..... but if you didnt do it right away it probly wont come out

i used "fairy" in Europe. It helps, then you can try some sour milk or pure yogurt on it. Or get some more strict suggestions in net.

Oxyclean with Hot water...
pour over stain
use white towel to immediately soak up liquid from stain...
then rub stain with towel.. rub like hell..

pour more oxy.. soak with towel. rub more like hell..

then clean hot water.. soak with towel.. rub like hell again..

repeat if needed

There is a product called Wine Out that I used to get when I lived on the East Coast. They would sell it at the wine store. It worked amazingly well and took out even old stains.

salt worked for me once, along with bleach diluted in water (it was white carpet), completely removed it
