as much as i hate this administration, they had *nothing* to do with that 55% tax.

The maneuver was aimed at defusing the minimum wage increase as a campaign issue for Democrats while using the popularity of the increase to achieve the Republican Party's longtime goal of permanently cutting estate taxes.

That left Democrats fuming.

basically, the democrats pushed this minimum wage bill.. (republicans would never be in favor of an increase in minimum wage, but not voting for it is a bad move politically.. all the poor people would whine)

the republicans attached their estate tax *CUT* to it, in order to force the democrats to approve it.

basically, because if the democrats vote against a "minimum wage" bill.. the republicans can use that in november.

again, there are all sorts of shady shit this administration is doing.. most of them aren't new (the above practice has been going on for decades).

so when they fuck up, call them on it. when the democrats fuck up, call them on it.

really sick of seeing everything blamed on W, because then when he really does fuck up - no one pays attention, because half of the shit people hear from the liberals is lies (like this thread).

you're doing yourselves a real disservice by RUINING your credibility.
