The consideration given to children and the mentality handicapped is little better than Iran in reality - they still get executed.

                                                                                                                                              Huntsville has killed more kids in reality than those recorded. Only found out about five years back when a law agency friend pointed this out - they wait till the kid is of legal age then kill them to keep their hands clean and make it "OK". This person was very familiar with Huntsville and had numerous "chats" with kids who were on death row and, at their request, attended their executions. Sad shit.

There are wide ranges of circumstances involved and questions can legitimately be raised as to who exactly the victim is on some occasions.

                                                                                                                                                          Without going into case detail.. let's put it this way. I can think of several instances where even law enforcement stated outright that they would have done the same thing and killed if they were kids under these circumstances. (Generally we are talking about *severe* child abuse over a number of years and on a daily basis.)

What I am saying is that it is just clouding the issue. Why? Because saying "Ya, well what about all the shit that goes on in the US?" is a really dumb argument to put up when we are all looking at this one incident in Iran.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  Slice it any way you want, add in all the "ya but what about's" you want, but no way in hell does it justify what they did to that girl.

I hate to say it but lots of people had horrible upbringings and had traumatic things happen to them as kids. Not all of them made the choice to murder someone though, so I'm in sort of a "cry me a fucking river" state of mind on this one. There ARE going to be bad parents out there always, that's a given. Bad parents don't necessarily have to result in bad kids. Another fact is that here in Canada the young offender's act is nowhere near as harsh as it needs to be, and I'm all for hitting (as in punishing) the ones who repeat offend a lot harder than they get hit now.
