    questions about stolen member content

    I'm full of questions today.

What do the big guys do about the many forums that post full sets of their member content? And for that matter, what about all the huge user/pass lists that can be found easily on many forums?

I realize that most have protection on their site for the username being shared, but what about the guy that posts set after set of member content on a forum and the forum admin allows it to continue?

Do they actively pursue the forum or not?

Not a very helpfull post, but i used to get these chinese boards hotlinking my images, my fault i guess as cpanel has an easy to use anti hotlinking. My friend had a million email addresses so he did a run using the admin email address. Imature but made me feel alot better.

Personally i would contact them and say remove it or ill sue. If they dont, i guess you have little else place to go, unless you have the bucks for a law suit. If its content you brought from a content provider, say ounique who are big, they would love to know about it.

If your a paysite, YOU NEED STRONG BOX. I cannot emphasise that enough, as passwords that find their way onto a password sharing site can run up you bandwidth big time. Strong Box is imo the best (i dont own it, run it, dont even know the people who do) and people on this board will more than likely say that strong box rocks.

        Had that

I found my photos on message boards before, as long as they had my URLSs it didn't bother me too much since it is free advertising. I found several photos with my copyright removed on a so called swingers board hosted in the Netherlands. Due to resizing the quality was so bad that I let this go but I was seriously thinking about doing something. If they steal high quality content I am going to nail their asses...

Just a couple of weeks ago a friend of mine found her pics on a website hosted in the carribean, her galleries were used to promote affiliates. Someone had removed her copyright remark an put his own on the pics.
        We did consult an attorney.

Here his answer. Hit them where it hurts most, means, where it costs their money. In the USA and Europe you can have every legal paper quickly served though big lawfirms. If the violator resides in a 3rd world country you have to be more creative. As long as someone gets money from it through a billing company have a DMCA Infringement Notice served to the billing company or the affiliate program provider and have the violators assets frozen. Then go to court an sue his ass.
If someone doesn't get direct revenue, like on a public message board, mail tehm and threaten to serve an notice to their server provider. This could cause the provider to take them offline in an instant. Most server providers will react immediately when they get infringment notices or legal papers served. Many of them are resellers anyway and the big players will not protect violators.

I actually spoke with some owners that were having content posted at OffTopic.com. A TON of full vids and galleries are getting posted there all the time from the big guys like Bang Bros and such.

I also spoke with Fazle who owns it and he had me relay to have the owners contact him and he would remove anything that fell under their brand, not sure if anyone ever contacted him or not.

On filesharing and such it's not a huge deal, and a couple pics here and there are free advertising. But personally it pisses me off to see full length vids and galleries being shared on very public forums. I don't think I can really make it go away, which really bothers me.
