That was my vote... Morongo all the way...Originally posted by LatinCashGaryYou got to keep Cybernetexpo in Cali.. Palm Springs is perfect.. The morongo casino would be great, nice and hot, pool, cabanas, casino, everything you can think of... Of course the Marriott in Palm Desert would be another ideal location... My vote is Palm Springs.....C H R I S

How about some drawbacks here folks?
I'm seeing a lot of "it's convenient for me... oh yeah and there's some great clubs" etc.
But how about why you would knock the other cities down in favor of the one in your back yard?Comment

Tampa would be a nice area to hold it in. The Tampa bay area area in general have a very large population of webmaster and programs down there

I love Palm Springs, but it might be great to revisit New Orleans again with all of you...well, maybe not all ;-)Originally posted by BlazingHey Jay..
As much as I would like to stay close to LA.. Palm Springs would be nice.. but, I think the bigger draw would be New Orleans.. I remember the Internext show there a few years back.. and it was good...Comment

I'm going with New Orleans since there hasn't been one there in ages, they could use the business of course & there's tons of fun stuff to do down there & plenty of clubs & drunk girls.
Tampa would be the next choice.
Totally not Palm Springs. It's nice & all but there's not much to do in terms of partying it up!

Well, my
is this...
Why not have a show somewhere we have not gone in the last year. Tampa, Miami too close together.
Palm Springs is ok, and only about an hour from my house but i don't really see that being a good location. Only hotel that is somewhat decent is The Spa, and still really isn't much of anything to do... old people town.
Why not do it in New Orleans... i'd be much more willing to book a flight somewhere i haven't been to in the last 6 months and actually look forward to the trip. Home of the party people, also sponsors for the show will have much more options of events to host and it will actually be different then gathering around a bar or going to a dinner... So much to do in the french quarter!
That would be a kick ass show !
So my vote NEW ORLEANS!Comment

Thats also a great idea... Boston is beautiful.... nothing ever happens in those parts... always FL, CA, AZ.... let's change it up a bit... add a little spiceOriginally posted by Nakedsword HollyHow about something East coast like Boston! Great city!

I have to vote for Palm Springs. Nice place, good weather and it does cool down in the evening.Innovation without monetization is art without an audience.

I don't know how many of you have been to new orleans but you will not find a more party town. It is the party capitol of the world for a reason, even now after the hurricane. You guys would love Bourbon St/French Quarter. Harrahs is right next to the convention center.Originally posted by Harley GirlWell, my

I know the city would want it.
Everything is walking distance, Hotels, French Quarter, Convention Center, Casino. Hundreds of bars, strip clubs to hold your events. Huge Convention center for the show. The best Music and Food in the world. All the great restuarants are back open. Go take a voodoo tour, or take a carriage tour around the quarter, listen to jazz and blues music, some of the best shopping in the country. Wildlife / outdoors stuff, everything from swamp tours, to real fishing charters, lots of stuff to do.
For the gay guys here, this is the home of Decedence. There are a lot of gay bars here and huge gay partying population.
Go somewhere you never been before and have a good time, the beach is nice but it's the beach. How many times have you been to the beach. That's not a selling feature to me.ICQ: 86364801 Email: will [at] innovativeassets [dot] com

I am still for Tampa
Tampa is close to us, but I don't mind flying....Keeps my status high with American
I think Tampa is a good choice, not because it is near where we are located, but because Florida does have a ton of strip clubs, and as I posted earlier, hosts the Adult Entertainment Awards every year- which would lead me to believe that Tampa is not going to be crazy with regulations & laws.
The prices in Tampa are not crazy either.....I haven't compared them to the other 2 under consideration, but Tampa is a reasonably priced area. It just seems to make sense financially and legally to have the event in Tampa.
Thanks!

It seems strip clubs are a requirement for some people, New Orleans probably has about 20 of them with in a 2 block area alone. No telling how many more scattered around. and all the free tities on the street, kinda like one big strip club.Last edited by will76; 07-27-2006, 06:48 PM.ICQ: 86364801 Email: will [at] innovativeassets [dot] com

Well, to answer a few questions:
San Fran was my #1 choice and has been for some time. I sent out several RFPs. It seems that most of the smaller hotels don't have space (they want to send you to the convention center) and the large hotels talk about 'marrying us with another group. Have already been there and done that too many times. It is too much pressure and lack of privacy to ' marry with another group. Finally gave up.
The #4 choice was Atlantic City. The drawbacks were: no direct flights - making airfare higher, they don't want conventions on weekends - would have to take weekdays, anything in the same chain (don't remember what name now they keep buying each other out - but are the major ones there now) won't allow an Adult convention. Many did not even answer. Too many remember the East Coast Video Show in it's heyday & want to raise prices for an Adult convention. Too much damage done.
Somewhere along there, Boston was also in consideration for awhile. Also Austin Texas, and Chicago. We were hot on Vancouver, but I found that starting Jan 1 you have to have a passport to fly in there. Our people procrastinate so much that doing a show where a passport is required, would cut attendance.
Most of the North East Coast is very expensive, and I am not talking about just rooms - other show related costs are all very high.
and Tampa is nothing like Miami - totally different in many ways. Not only further North, both the people and the coastline on the West side of Florida are different.
Our size show has many problems in hotel selection. We are not large enough to contract for all the rooms in most hotels & not the type of show to co-exhist with other shows. (been there - done that:-) We do need space requirements that most smaller hotels don't have. Outside areas are starting to get more important for shows. We have too many smokers & people don't want to have to stay inside all the time. They want courtyards & outside areas. The majority of hotels don't have that to offer. You almost have to choose a resort type for any outside areas to conregate.
We were interested in May when the weather would not be as much a factor, but had to work around Mothers Day, Memorial Day & the Toronto show.
Any yea...the same old places... but for a reason. Going where the strongest webmaster bases are, is a strong pull. More sponsors willing to get involved. There are 3 strong areas: California, Florida, and New Jersey/New York.
So, if anyone has the right kind of hotel in another location that would have us (we need a hotel willing to work with us - not against us) & that meets our criteria - we would love to check into it. There is a lot more to it than just choosing a city.Comment
