phew glad I didn't go, woulda ruined it for me. I only saw the very first trailers for both spiderman 1 and 2 worked in my favor too because when i finally saw both movies i was gladly suprised with how good they were.

skinny wimpy kid is spiderman...in the comics he was always a skinny little nerd, that was one of his biggest appeals in the comics. The comics that always made me mad were when the artist would start drawing spiderman as a bodybuilder.

i just watched the trailer. is the "black" spiderman supposed to be venom? in the comic books venom was always much more muscular, had huge sharp teeth, and a long tongue. am i wrong?

i think thats his body after he separated with spiderman and got another one.. not sure though...

Yep, Spider-man originally got the black costume from a machine on another planet, and then after returning to earth discovered that the costume was actually an alien symbiote trying to permanently take over his body... After rejecting the symbiote it merged with Eddie Brock becoming Venom

Youtube has a really blurry version of the video Sam Raimi showed at the con, Venom looks pretty big and has the whole teeth tongue thing going on too. I read that Sam Raimi also said Harry wasn't going to be the new green goblin either but dunno about that, the set up from the end of Spiderman 2 and the trailers so far make it look like hes a main baddy.

They followed it a bit in the cartoon too (sorta) just that they symbonte came back on the ship & then merged with Spidey and then Eddie Brock.

The pics I had seen for "black" spiderman I wasnt too thrilled with.
Im not too thrilled with seeing Topher Grace as Eddie Brock tho heh...

Man... the cartoon version explanation of the symbiote was really lame, I really loved the comic version too. Spider-man, like many of Earth's heroes and villains, were whisked away by the Beyonder (think true uber being, basically nearly unlimited powers). The Beyonder came from a pocket universe and wanted to essentially experiment so he got the best and the worst Earth had to offer, taking chunks of the planet and forming a new planetoid and this became known as the Secret Wars. The Secret Wars was fucking awesome... was a great storyline. Spidey finds the symbiote, thinks it's some kind of ultra costume, was only till much later he realized that it was actually an alien that wanted to rape aunt may and impregnate her with it?s symbiotic demon seed. GGILFs are fucking awesome.
