As a surfer, that's one of the things I hate about google, often when I'm searching I want recent results but the oldest pages usually have the most backlinks and end up showing up first. I don't know how many times I've searched for computer related topics and end up getting articles from 2002 which are almost useless.
For example, last night I was searching for a fix to help with a Windows Media Player problem and so many results were 3 or 4 years old.
