Funny, I just put up a brand new site last week. A total of 3 links to it from my own sites. I'm first page for a very hot term and getting 60% of my traffic from google.
Backlinks might be a little over rated. Or else I've just always been real lucky all these years. I wasn't even going for any particular term on it either. That's the even funnier part. I just worked on it, put it up...then a few days ago noticed in my analytics a shitload of traffic coming in for a seach term
