Tour page trailers, yes or no?

So I'm betting the answer from most is YES, you need tour page trailers (I use them myself). Especially with all the tubes sites, Video galleries, etc.... But I wonder about sites like clips4sale.com (which makes bank), they don't have trailers, and so the buyers are left to wonder.

Is there some value to not having trailers on the tour pages to leave the visitors to wonder and signup out of curiosity? This is not relative to free hosted galleries, or general promo material, just the main tour pages for the site.

I would think a tour without trailers wouldn't convert but I'd love for you to prove me very very wrong.

Clips4Sale does indeed have an option for store owners to offer brief 10 second trailers but not all store owners use that option.

I think sites should have some trailers... Altho I have not seen much or any increase on c4s with the 10 sec trailers...

The C4S trailer capability sucks for three reasons. 1- they all come out in 16x9 instead of 4x3 even for the many SD videos they have on there which makes the videos loked distorted. 2- the on-the-fly default flash compression sucks. I just added links from all my full length video clips to my own small trailers for each scene that they can spawn in their media player or download and watch. That way they come out in the correct aspect ratio and they also look nicer with my own superior encoding. 3- you are limited to the snippets they have to select from instead of creating your custom trailer as you wish. It's not a perfect solution since my trailers aren't part of the thumbnail itself, but the presentation is under my control at least.
