Because of the link that YOU posted here in this forum, I had to spend quite some time deleting files that were placed into my pc & registry..This is in FACT a virus..Although it may not be severely harmful, It was not files I wished to be placed into my system..These files were put there without my consent or knowledge, & their primary functions were to extract email addy from my outlook express..This in end serves only one purpose & puts you in that category..SPAMMER!!

The owners of that link you posted now have my email address & god knows who else..I recieve a SINGLE email from them, or any other unknown source as a result of clicking that link..I will hold YOU personally responsible..You say to HungryMan to prove that that link was a virus..IT IS..The java exploit is designed to place files within the registry & temp & other directories to gain control of a specified program & to extract information...THIS IS A VIRUS!!!! This is also a violation of privacy & trust..

Also, I knew it extracted emails, and I knew from what program because I use outlook express for that email account. Just like there are scripts that extract your IP#, HOSTNAMES, BROWSER, RESOLUTION.

Hey ppl,

Ok, here is the low-down on the script.

It's a com.ms.activeX.ActiveXComponent call in the
script that is setting off the VCs you have.
Any calls by com activeX have been deemed virii by most
all Virus software. Some of the last few patterns or
*.dat updates you have all had for your VCs have
included the com activeX call as a virii. Microsoft added
the fix to one of their last few critical update
downloads weeks ago.

Here is what it all means in English.

The script does nothing but extract your email addy and name.
It then writes it to the same page for you to see. Sure the
owner of the site could write something to log all the pages
that are created. Then even another simple JavaScript could
harvest out all the addys from the directory of pages cached.

The reason it wasn't working (able to show you your email addy
and name) is because you have the update from Microsoft
installed, or your VC halted the action because it recognized the
com activeX.

If you have the registers I pointed out before delete them. This
script does no damage other than making someone who never
goes to Microsoft's update susceptible to getting spammed
because they got harvested.

Another interesting fact is that the reason M$ made the addition
of com activeX to one of their criticals is because of all that
auto-homepage and auto-favs shit that was going on in the
porn industry in the summer. Haven't you noticed all the bitching
from surfers, and newbier Webmasters here at GFY? It's because
the update cured it...the auto-homepage script is dead, and so
is this JavaScript we got pointed to.

The lesson here (I think anyway) is Get your IE critical updates
and lame-ass scripts like this one won't bother you a bit.

Again (if I talked too much and made it confusing)...
NO VIRUS IN THAT SCRIPT.
