    Looking for rocker/porn webmaster roomate in LA

    Some of you might know that i have fallen on some hard times because of a recent illness. My credit is shot and I am being evicted. I am having a moving sale and am looking to sell off most of my possessions, which will bring in some pretty good money and allow me to re-settle. I am looking to relocate to LA for my music. Looking to start a band, not to get a record deal necessarily, but to showcase my songs and to have some fun.

    I know how to make money in the adult internet game, but because of amy illness and the effects of hurricane IKE, I have not been able to build it up yet. I am presently around $500.00/mo on it. I am looking for a room in the $400-$600 range with minimal or no security deposit. I have bad credit because of my illness but I will work 24/7 on building up my web empire to support myself. i use to run pay sites for models and would be interested in getting some girls to shoot. I am also an experienced day trader but can't do that no because I don't have the 25k minimum to place day trades. I am quiet and keep to myself so i would never be a burden.

    I would also consider Nashville, Vegas or NY, maybe Austin if I can find a better fit there. I have a PdD in Linguistics and a sharp business mind so making money won't be a problem. i will work my ass off.

      HUh? Ya shouldnt go for the music dream if you are sick.

      No one will touch you as far as music goes ( ESPECIALLY IN LA ) and you run the risk of getting sick again if you plan to tour. If got a Dean GUitar or Les Paul for sale let me know

                  TO old for it, how do I know? I lived in LA myself for a few years and played out.
                  If you do not know the LA scene I suggest you stay away from it. DOesnt matter how good you are or how well you play, I was 34 making an attempt for a couple years there played out in a second life and the fact is... No money, No contacts, no chance.

                  All the bands that make it out of LA have Daddy's money to get them the best gear and best introductions for a deal. OH and Rock is dead in LA, no one wants ROck anymore ya might pull off metal/Rock but then again...

                  FUck dude I am just trying to save you more grief than its worth.
                  Ya want a deal you goto play out and tour period and just not think about being big, but think about just making money on the small circuit and small towns.

                                                  Did I say I was looking to get a major label deal? No, I am looking to showcase my songs and have some fun. And even if I was, there are plenty of Indie labels around and with enough cash flow, a band can develop its own fan base and make a living that way.

                                                  At one time, they said a black man would never win the presidency. So don't tell me something can't be done. The music rocks.

                                                  PS -m I am sorry for biting your head off. I didn't realize you were talking about age. It is obviously a major factor. But that can be neutralized by developing a character like Marilyn Manson or Alice Cooper.

                                                  Finally, while it is true that the major labels don't sign artists over the age of 30, there is no statute of limitations on being a songwriter/producer/music publisher. Also, if a label thinks is can make money off you, you'll get offers.

                                                  I am well aware of how the majors operate and frankly, I doubt I would seven sign a deal with one of them. They are greedy money grubbers who want to completely own you and control you. They want a piece of everything, including full publishing rights and they will also force you into a % of mechanical royalties less than the standard $.091 per cut. FUCK that!

                                                  I realize that you were not being mean-spirited and I appreciate that.

                                                  I am also interested in running sites for models in the area and would consider one who has a room to rent. I could shoot all the content. It's not all about the music.

                                                                  I just got a cool place in Vegas and the rock scene here is blazing. New studios and venues opening every month. Lot's of established rockers moving here. Vegas '08 is not unlike Hollywood '88. We won't even mention the rocker chicks.

They always had great music from the start and like everyone else started out on a minor label and toured there asses off for years and years and years and years and years.

                                                                                                  There is more to touring than being on a label. Above I was expressing the idea that a Major label or label does not really matter. What matters is touring and to undertake such a run at an older age would be fucking hell and even if a person is healthy... Touring can definatly put the deathnail in the caskett.

If money is tight, you may want to consider someplace other than Los Angeles. I hear Austin has a really nice music scene and it is very affordable.

You only said touring was hell for old people (mid 40s is not old). john McCain is 72 and I can tell you flat our that a presidential campaign is a lot more hellish than touring with a band.

I'm just stating my opinions about this thread. I'm sure you're a good guy who's fallen on hard times, I'm just wanting you to see what at least 1 (me) of your prospects sees in this thread. You may want to reconsider your approach?

Take all of the comments as advice and use that information to tackle your problem. You aren't the only person to run into tough times because of medical issues, I can think of several people just off the top of my head that are in this industry. It happens... it sucks, but it happens.

                                                                                                                                                                              As of now, your goal seems a little lofty. You want to move to Los Angeles with very little money, no real income, so that you can have fun playing music. Yeh, that does sound fun, it also doesn't sound realistic.

                                                                                                                                                                              Why don't you try spending a couple months building up your income and then make the jump to Los Angeles and then you can have a blast playing music. If you move with no money, you are only going to find yourself with headache after headache.
