Thanks again to all of the great response. I saw this thread shortly after it was posted but I did not have time to read it all or reply because I was in Europe getting ready to come back to the US. I had to do more than just pack a bag so it took alot of my time. My wife and I were planning on living 3 months in Europe but we decided to come back. So it took some time to get everything ready to come back. Now I am back and sort of rested so I am hoping we can get some good conversations going.

Let me explain how I got the idea to write this. While in Europe I was reading Warren Buffets biography. From his very beginings he would send letters to the people who invested with him. Now they are famous with tons of information, inspiration, and many of his concerns. He tried to educate people to calm their emotions about business and to be patient making money. Also to show people to make money the safe and honest way. He never went close to the line. If anything seemed to be anywhere close to immoral he stayed away. He proved you can make money the honest way... even more money. He invested mainly in busineses who treated the customer great and who created loyal customers. I liked all of the messages he passed along to his investors/stock holders. He was making a difference and he did it by example. He did not just preach to do something a certain way and you will become successful. He did it himself. So half way through the book I decided I would start doing my own letters to the industry. The first letter would be about my business background. All future letters/articles will be about my concerns in this industry, strategies, my responses to many debates, and more about the ongoings of my business. I looked for a domain. I know it is cheesy but I needed to get attention and the word Millionaire gets attention... it is not like I am trying to be like Don Lupre

I finished the article the day before I was leaving Europe. I was planing to post it when I got back but Marc emailed me about some stuff and I replied back with the link to see what he thought. I guess he liked it so much he wanted to share it with everyone. He emailed me to ask if it was ok to post it. I want to be clear about something. I have seen some posts mainly of other boards that I did this just to get affiliates. They are half right. Mainly I did it because of what I just said above. I really would like to see many changes in this industry that will help all of us. But also I am looking for a FEW affiliates... more like partners like I described in my article. My site does not have an open affiliate program. I do not just let anyone become an affiliate because they can send me some traffic. I do not have the time or the resources to have a couple hundred affiliates. The only tools I have for my affiliates now are hosted galleries which are very easy for me to add to the program since I make many galleries for my own advertising. I just change the link codes for the hosted galleries. I have nothing else. No banners, affiliate support staff, nothing. I have a few affiliates who are good at what they do and they don't need me to babysit them. Although I am there for them to help them with their marketing and I do check in to give them advice since I market my site myself and know it best. Not like some affiliate reps trying to tell you how to market their site better when they don't market their own site heavily in the same way their affiliates do. I have time to do this with a few selected affiliates but not hundreds. I want to get some affiliates who really know what they are doing. So of course if I can get the attention of a few I would love to do business with them.

The vast majority of my future business will come from my own advertising. I do not need affiliates but if a profitable partnership works for both parties then why not?

I was hoping to have time to reply to some of the responses here and to those who sent me emails but I have been having trouble replying for about the past 20 minutes. I need to leave now but I should be back in a few hours to talk more.

I think I will start spending a little more time on the boards but only in constructive discussions. I want to help webmasters like Shap spread the word about treating customers right and show other webmasters that there is alot of money to be made by running honest sites designed for the customer.

I sort of want to stay anonymous to the general crowd. Like I said before I am not here to attract alot of affiliates. I would like to attract a few good partners for marketing while my bigger goal is to show people the big money in honest marketing and an honest product. I want to help clean up the industry and make tons of money in the process.

No. Do what you know. I tried doing bbw, tranny, and everything else. I did not do well because I could not relate. I sucked at marketing them. I just saw the appeal in the teen market and I could relate to the buyer. Stick with what you are comfortable with.

That's a great article. Many successful people in this biz were the ones that learned from their mistakes and never gave up. It also proves that a conservative approach (revshare, limited affiliates, honest marketing, small staff) can also be a successful formula.

I hope my story and my stats can show people there really is more money by treating a customer or potential customer like a customer. There is huge money in the honest approch. I am starting to see more and more go in this direction. I want to help push more into this direction and really improve our industry. Many many customers lost their trust. We need to get it back... it is more profitable to do this.

I wholeheartedly agree with you in many aspects. I've always disliked other people's dishonest, scammy or tricky ways to make bank. Earn the surfer's trust, establish a relationship with him, make him your friend and he'll buy from you.

Yes this is exactly what I am trying to get accross. I am hoping people will see webmasters such as me, shap, karup lou, quiet and many others who use a quality product and pay attention to our customers wants and concerns to make a killing in this industry. Quality is the new money maker because this industry is very saturated with bad sites... but these bad sites need to go now. There are too many and it is hurting all of us.

I highly recommend signing up to affiliate programs who have a quality product and don't use shady tactics. Programs such as twistys, atk, karups, ftv, exploited teens, and a few others.

Yeah. I already had many emails from paysite owners who barely got any traffic and my suggestion was to stop what they were doing and learn from the bottom up.. blogs, link lists, and tgps. I am not saying that these are easy to run but the start up cost are much less. Starting in this business with a paysite is very hard today.

Not true at all. Many people who you never heard of make alot more than that each month. I will be honest... you will make about the same amount of money with a pay per sign up program as you will with a decent recurring program. Although there are a FEW recurring programs that will make you more money in the long run. I am talking in the major markets here not in markets such as gay or tranny. I heard those sites retain members for very long times.

My main issue is how many of the PPS programs treat the surfer. It is not needed. Some of these successful PPS sponsors can take what they know and all of the money they make and start a site that is for the customer and treats the customer right... no consoles, no cross sales, and quality members areas. The owners of these programs are damn smart and I know they would do well by going in this direction. I just hope myself and a few others here can convince them to atleast try this to see that there is alot of money in this and at the same time help the industry get a better reputation as a whole with surfers. It will mean a much brighter future for us with alot more money in our pockets.

Quality and honesty will always work better in the long run.
So many people trying to make a quick buck and milking the cow with wathever ways possible now...we are ruining the surfer's experience.
I'll speak for the tgp/mgp side of business here, the strong sites are still the ones not fucking over their visitors like Pinkworld,Worldsex, The Hun etc...why do you think?
Of course everyone will say unless you have a lot of money it's almost impossible to reach that level of traffic with that kind of site now without trading your traffic like a madman and yada yada.....but what if most of us would rethink our model and try to gain trust of surfers again?

it is a great story - but the remaining surfer pool will continue to be tainted by shitty PPS programs and alot of shitty revshare programs, that cheap as shit crappy DVD license content has given new life to the old crappy members areas

can the success of sites like twisty's, teenpinkvideos, ultrawiredsex etc be replicated if somebody started today? i'm told gallery spots are very overpriced today and making a profit with them is not easy - especially for teen sites.

Why are people saying youre better off as an affiliate when the guy made all of his money when he became a program owner?

I will be writing a short article about this subject for my site. Actually I wrote it last week but I just need to type it up.

Yeah this is unfortunate but there is still room for this. Sites like qmov has done well with it. Their videos seem good but I never been in their members areas. Other sites using dvd content have done well with it also. If done right many people don't know the difference. But I ordered I think between $5-$10k of dvd content to add to my site as bonus videos but it was so shitty I threw it out.

I think many sites can incorporate good dvd content into their members area to increase retention. I think a mistake some site owners do is overload the members area with quanity. They think quanity increases retention. I have not seen that. In my experience if I update often such as a few times per week or even daily with QUALITY content it is enough to get great retention. For example maybe a photo set added daily and 3 exclusive videos added per week. This was able to retain a huge percentage of members into the second month and much longer. I think members don't want to suffle through tons of garbage to find good stuff. They would rather just see the good stuff.

Once more site owners realize this then they will be more picky about content and invest in content more wisely. Even if it is cheap. Adding lots of shit to the members area does not give a member a reason to stay.

No I did not make all of my money as a program owner. I was making in the six figures before I had my own paysite. You need to understand it is really hard to balance both marketing a site and running a site on your own. Many affiliates make millions of dollars because they concentrate on just marketing. I was lazy when I was an affiliate. I worked maybe an hour or two each day. My paysite gave me a reason... a motivation to work more in all aspects of the business. I learned how to market effeciently in the past so I spend very little time dealing with marketing now. My past experience is the reason why I able to balance both marketing and running my own paysite. Even now the hours I put into actual work would be considered part time. Which leads me to think why the hell do all of these paysites need so many people working for them?

So, because of my increased motivation and because I finally had a good teen site to market is why I made more money. Paysites are not the only way to riches.

Quite frankly that I believe that it's still possible to break through. Deeper pockets to start off with is a requirement though... also you gotta believe in your product. And not be dillusional like the whole Studiocash fiasko.

Yes, you can make milions with a paysite, the business model is simple:

The average affiliate makes 2 (two) sales a month. Get 1000 or so of them promoting your site and presto, you're a milionere.

The secret lays in getting as many of those two-sales-a-month idiots as possible.

Many unfortunately have done this by using shady tactics to attacked thousands of affiliates. But don't be crazy. To get 1000 affiliates all making 2 sales per day is very very hard. If it is done then it is only done by some of the largest programs out there. I like my method much better. I created a good and honest site which customers like and it has done so well I was able to make all of those sales by my self. I did not need affiliates.
