FUCK Windows, fuck computers, fuck everything, I'm switching to Linux, full time, and that's it. No more fucking windows boxes around as a backup just incase I can't get something working. From now on, any business I need to get done better fucking run on Linux, or it ain't fucking getting the fuck done. If I can't find a Linux version of something, I ain't running it.

Wish me luck! Next time you see me, It'll be from Firefox installed on an Ubuntu box.

I run mainly windows boxes for hosting stuff, and for desktop and laptop. Install on my desktop is at 1.5 years without a reformat. Have a box running over 3 years windows 2003 never had a crash. Maybe im just lucky.

I've done the converse. I used a Mac. I just sold it and went Windows so I am running the same shit as about 90% of my clientele.

I hate it, but it works much better than I remember, there's relatively few needs to upgrade the whole system for a minor patch (zlib, anyone?)

My servers are Linux, but I wish they were FreeBSD.

been running xp pro since release. never had any problem with it. the only problems i ever had were hardware related. basically hdd's just getting old and past their time and finally giving out on me. but no xp problems at all. the trick to windows is, you have to understand she's a stubborn, bratty little bitch. if you get low on hard drive space or memory useage, windows tends to start to bring the suck pretty hard. you just have to keep your free space above 10% of your total hdd capacity and keep everything as clean as possible.

i've maintained a reliable system for years now running simply ad-block, firefox, ad-aware, ccleaner, spybot S&D, avg and zone alarm. if you keep things relatively clean and up to date, and do NOT use IE simply because it's security blows, then you'll be alright. but if you let things get junked up, use IE and let your free hdd space get below 10%, then you're heading for trouble you pretty much deserve.
