I've been a Windows user all my life but I think I would like to try a Mac. I work for a big ISP in Iceland, and all the mac users rave about their computers like brainwashed zombies... so this stuff gotta be good right?

I got one recently and love it. Make sure you get at least 1gig of RAM and checkout out Parallels Desktop, making it easy for you to run WinXP on your Macbook.

same situation as you, never used a mac in my life, but i'm a freebsd fan and i figure why not have a desktop os that also works as a great development server. picked up a macbook and i dig it.Comment

They're never high in the rankings in consumer reports. I'd stick with more reputable brands such as Lenovo/IBM and Toshiba or Apple(ugh) which always rank at the top of laptop brand ratings for quality and customer service.Comment

If you load bootcamp on a macbook pro, and windows xp sp2, then your running windows. That means anything and everything that you would normally run on any other windows machine run on the macbook.... simple as that. You do understand that right? Your BOOTING to windows XP, NOT running it on top of OSX. When you do this, you also better have all your regular antivirus and spyware apps running, because your machine at that point IS a windows XP machine. Hats off to Apple for not only giving us the choice to run OSX or Windows XP, But giving us a FREE tool to do it and provideing ALL the drivers in simple self creating CD to make the features of the Macbook pro work with XP without having to hunt all over the net for them.
