It's called the "bathtub effect". Like water sloshing in harmonic waves in a bathtub, excess heat in certain parts of the globe can cause cold air from the poles to 'slosh' in waves. This produces colder colds and strange cold spells that counterbalence the heat energy that is making the hotter areas hot.

If you actually read about it, read the science, you would know this.
