Honestly? It's my family - the people who are supposed to love me unconditionally - they don't have to agree with what I do, but they don't judge me on it. I'm here to earn my living & make good money while I'm doing it. I don't have any 'official' studies so the real world won't pay me anywhere near what I make in the industry. I totally agree with you. I wish everyone on this planet was this open minded. We would make even more money. Unfortunately, that's not the case. The only person who knows what I am doing is my wife. I have 2 kids also. Since my son could speak I've never shielded him from the reality of life. When he asked 'why' he couldn't sit with me while I worked or was on the computer, I told him that I work in an industry not suitable for children and then when he'd be old enough and legal he could get a full explanation. He has a good idea of what I do - I can read it in his eyes. He understands that I'm a 'sales rep' & that it's not all I do.

He also knows that NO MATTER what it takes to give them both the opportunity to get an education, there's no pride or prejudice, I'll do it so they don't have to be limited in their options or choices. My daughter is more independant and yet more talkative than he was at her age so to prevent that she slip, I don't elaborate on very pointed and precise questions she asks - I do tend to soften things up for her.

It's not for everyone, I agree and perhaps I'm abnormal - but that's just the way I am. Heck my mother-in-law knows what I do - she thinks it's cool. Even my ex-husband & his wife know what work we do.

I suck at being a liar and it's always caused me more trouble than the truth so I try as much as possible to stick to it - unless it can harm someone else.

Telling my family what I did was the probably the worst decission in my life. Every family get together the same questions: hey can't you make me a site? Hey can't you teach me how to do it? Hey how much have you earned while being on this party? Hey BLABLABLABLABLA..... they only see the money and the fact that you earn it while you are laying on the beach or fullfilling family obligations (which those parties are!). The long hours you work when they are asleep or watching a movie in the couch don't count for them.
Even my sister asks it once in a while. My parents don't care though, as long as I make a living it's all fine for them.
