Israel started itOriginally posted by crockettIf Hezzbolah didn't put their bases operations right in the middle of civilian targets, then Israel wouldn't likely be hitting as many civilians. It's easy to blame Iseral but what else are they supposed to do just let Hezzbolah continue to lob missles at them and do nothing in return?
Let's remember who started this latest round of blood bath....Comment

Israel didn't cross the boarder and kidnapped Hezzbolah's troops. Isreal didn't start it but they will likely finish it. Also it was the second time Hezzbolah had done it in three days. Let's also not forget that 3 Israeli's were killed during the kidnappings.Originally posted by MatizIsrael started itLast edited by crockett; 07-18-2006, 11:11 AM.In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.Comment

If you were now at Lebanon you would talk a bit different.
Although there are many people (christians, druse etc.), who opposed to Hezbollah, IDFs are making them all guilty with attacs on civil targets.Comment

Totally agree. The image is so striking and no one can see why.
But I suppose that is why we have war in the first place; or at least explains the frequency of war.Comment

The only thing worse than haters are hate breeders - when children, clearly too young to understand the complex issues, are enabled and encouraged (by adults) to further the feud, the adults are doing more than just getting even (regardless of who started it) - they are making their society even more dysfunctional, and consequently, more likely to be a participant in the insanity of bloody conflict.
Where are 'Child Services' when you need them?
Maybe 2257 needs to be updated to also save kids from being exploited and victimized by war (it does not seem to work for anything else).Comment

Yes this is true, however Lebanon allows Hezzbolah to exist and hide among Lebanon's civilian population. If Lebanon didn't want to take the responsibility for what Hezzbolah has done or will do then they should do something about it themselves.Originally posted by xxxdesign-netHezzbolah isnt Lebanon...
Long story short they didn't do shit to stop them theirselves so now Iseral is going to do it. The source:
A book from American Jew, Thomas L. Friedman, "From Beirut To Jerusalem" (he has got Pulitzer price for it).
Hizbollah has now more weapons then week Lebanon army, so they cant simply disarm them. Disarm of Hizbollah would mean civil war for them.
And hizbollah is in opposition.Comment

Why not ask that of the Lebanese, who put the weapons in the hands of their children themselves. Ask any landed Lebanese immigrants of our generation what it was like growing up there. A lot of my highschool friends were from there, and the stories they told about their lives would make your blood run cold. Watching their parents butchered on their own doorsteps by their own people, being encouraged to go out and throw rocks and glass at tanks and armed LEBANESE people? The culture over there is nothing like it is here. In these Arabic countries, a 12 year old boy is a man and he's handed a weapon and taught to use it before he's even finished school. Violence doens't just happen there, it's a way of life. And as much as I think what Israel is doing is not right, what the Lebanese have done to themselves isn't much better. In fact, most countries/cultures in that part of the world have been committing as much violence and terrorism on each other for CENTURIES as they meddle anywhere else in the world.Comment

Everyone should keep in mind too that the bad blood between Israel and the other countries of the middle east has been there lonnnng before the last century even. It only became worse because now they are fighting even harder over land and old grudges. Remember, Israel wasn't even created as a state until after the second world war, as part of Nazi repairations against the jewish race. Part of the Zionist movement. Many Palestinians and others were displaced when the country was formed (in 1948 to be exact), and that is still fresh on the minds of all the Arabic countries. As far as they are concerned, they have been robbed. There have also been conflicts between jews and arabic races since time immemorial.... We are only now seeing a modern outbreak of a struggle that's actually been going on for centuries.
This isn't going to go away anytime soon, and even if a ceasefire is called and agreements are made, you all have to know there is going to be more trouble down the road.Comment

But I think US gived the green light to israel to attack Hezbollah. If you know Hezbollah is a group that is supported by Iran. And if US attacks Iran, Iran can send Hezbollah to attack US. So I believe US told Israel to attack Hezbollah so when US goes to war with Iran they don't have to worry about Hezbollah. As Hezbollah can do a lot of terroist attack in the US.Comment

What an idiotic statement youve made here, re read what you wrote-Originally posted by Mr. SoulStop watching US television immedietly. Israel started this bloodshed. Attacking a nation because one solider was taken prisoner is not justified just because they say it is on CNN.
It was 2 soldiers not 1, and THAT is what started this quarrel, period end of story.
So that begs me to ask you this, are you saying its ok for a foreign terrorist orginization to to cross the border and kidnap military personal and there should be no retribution for it?Comment

Is their culture different? Most certainly it is. One seemingly universal trait we all have though (unless it's simply propaganda, which it very well may be in some cases) is a love for our children, and the hope that they'll have a better life than we do. In the Western world it's generally a material thing. In the East one of the things they probably wish for (because I don't profess to know) is that their children can grow up in peace.
How can any culture hope for peace, and that's NOT limited to the Middle East mind you, when the most innocent of minds are taught to hate and/or are bred for war? They'll learn about that soon enough in school or in the news, and at a much younger age than most of us ever did. (Thinking about it, that picture, for all we know, could very well represent a school project of some sort.) But in NO way do I see it necessary for ANY child at the age of 10 years old to be involved directly with weapons of any sort, let alone ones specifically intended to harm someone.
Until THAT particular part of their culture is changed, there will NEVER be peace in the region.
To rebut in advance the assumption that this comes off as me believing that MY culture is BETTER than theirs, that isn't the case either. Every culture is different and surely has it's good points as well as bad ones (note the comment on the material west above). But I fail to see how anyone can truly believe that what is represented in those pictures can possibly be a good point of ANY culture.Comment

Thank you. That's the point that people should really look at instead of who started what or why.
