I scratched the heel of my foot while at the show. It was very superficial and didn't even bleed so I thought nothing of it. Afterwards I went in the petree dish of a pool that the hotel runs. My foot started to swell a bit the next day and get a little stiff - I figured I just drunkenly twisted my ankle. However it became very tender, swelled worse and wose, and became a deep shade of red. I ended up leaving the show a day early because of it. I went to the emergency room yesterday and found out I had Cellulitis in my foot because of this scratch becoming infected in the pool.
Cellulitis (sel-u-LI-tis) is a potentially serious bacterial infection of your skin. Cellulitis appears as a swollen, red area of skin that feels hot and tender, and it may spread rapidly. Left untreated, the spreading bacterial infection may rapidly turn into a life-threatening condition.
So i ended up in the ER for 6 hours being pumped with antibiotics and painkillers through an IV.
