hehe, when you start the game you choose a side. "Alliance" or "Horde." Good vs bad, i guess. I always play bad guy, so I went horde.
The game consists of player vs player (PVP) real time fights to the death. In the world there are areas that are battlegrounds, one side will have control over that area, until it is taken by another side. Last night we got together in a group of 40 or more players ( a raid group) and we raided areas that were under "alliance" control. We kill everything in site, we raid towns and kill. We kill the flight handlers which stops people from being able to "fly" into the area and "take it back."
I started pvp long ago in a game called Ultima Online, where pvp basically started. The term "PK" means player killer, meaning, when I log on, killing monsters is boring, I like to fight and kill other players. Monsters have an AI and are generally easy to fight once you know how to kill em, like in boring console games. However, humans have real intelligence (some of em) and actually makes for a more challenging time.
In Ultima, player killers had a tougher time, you couldnt enter towns and was flagged as a "criminal" which meant harder game play. Your existence in the world (game) was harder...not to mention, when you kill, you can take items from the player you just faceplanted. WOW hoever, lets you just choose a side.
PK for life.
