    VoIP in the adult world -- Any ideas

    So I was wondering......


    I have been toying with the idea of starting my own VoIP service. We already use a home grown softswitch to run our office phone system, and have kinda been developing it to be a strong enterprise class product. Something that could really be sold to the masses. Verison 1.1 is just about ready, and I am going to release see if I can get anyone to try it.

    My question is, does anyone see a need for a VoIP solution in the adult biz? I mean 1-900's could use it. We also have been working on a click-to-dial application that would allow someone to be connected to another person by simply entering their phone number into a field on a website and clicking call. This could be adapted to request a credit card number, and we could charge the caller for their time.

    The possible solutions are endless in my eyes, but I want to see what all of you really think?

              Btw Skype is not free. Its free computer to computer, and right now till dec outgoing calls are free. Its owned by ebay. If you think it will be free forever you got somethin coming. Also to get an incoming number it costs money etc. www.SplitInfinity.com is a voip phone service provider. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in the service or have some ideas on alternative uses for voip.

                  Skype is NOT true VoIP.

                  Some of us rathe use an actual phone to make phone calls.

                  Anyways, don't bother geting into VoIp. Vonage and others will be dead in a few years. Cable companies are staring to offer VoIP and they bundle those service with thier internet access. Only advantage now with Vonage and others is price. Comcast is already the largest provider of VoIp.

                      Here is a idea for you, something I was looking into but didn't have a way to do it.

                      Specialize in setting up VOIP services for business.. Large corporations would save a shit load of money if they weren't dependent on traditional phone services. No one offers VOIP for large scale business set ups.

                      Think about the average office and how many phones and phone lines they have. There is big bank even at the local level if you can get the marketing out there along with a quality service.
                      In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.

                          http://www.icall.com is completely free pc to phone and free phone to pc. Plus it's free for anybody whereas skype's temporary free pc to phone is only free for us and canadian users.

                                  Can I tie it into my normal landline style phones? Will I be guranteed a number for as long as I have the service and it wont change? Those free things are nice to make a call here or there, but anyone who is running a business or wants people to be able to actually be able to contact them isnt going to use a free program. With SplitVoip you can also run a softphone to make and receive calls on from your computer.

                                      Yes there is already a huge market out there for that. Many many of the offices out there are running just voip.

                                          I haven't seen it specifically mentioned by name, but this topic seems to be dancing around software like Asterisk. It already exists, is free software, and can be used to build robust telephony solutions. You can hook in softphones, SIP telephones, or use your existing POTS-style telephones using SIP ATA adapters. Check it out if you are interested in this kind of thing -- you can build some amazing telephone-style systems using it.

                                              Its good stuff no doubt. Lot of offices use asterisk even for interoffice stuff. Voip has many many possibilities.

                                                  Well the system I wrote is really designed around this idea, of providing large scale businesses with the service. I have a nation wide chain of paint stores using it right now in 149 locations and they love it. But the CEO of the company is someone my dad knew so he was like my beta customer.

                                                  Still you are right and this is the business we would be going after. As well as smaller cable and ISP providers that would like to get into VoIP but don't have the know how or the network to do it. My solution is designed to provide them services all on the same platform saving on operational costs.

                                                  It is a big gamble I would have to say. We will see.
