    What does Gonzo mean?

    What does it mean? Where does the word come from? Is it a specific niche or genre? What the hell is it about? Is almost all porn today gonzo?

                  the only porn that really sells is gonzo.

                  the term 'gonzo' comes from Hunter S. Thompson, the renegade journalist - not sure if he described what he did or somebody else did but his style of journalism came to be called 'gonzo journalism' - where the journalist instead of being a detached observer chronicling event actually became an active participant and wrote from that point of view.

                  as far as 'gonzo porn' - in the truest sense it's porn where the person shooting it is part of the scene - John Stagliano aka Buttman is the father of 'gonzo porn'
                  - he did almost genuine gonzo - almost. What people call gonzo porn today is any porn where there is no storyline or written dialogue - just real people having hardcore sex.

                                                          Stagliano did shoot POV but u could shoot gonzo non-POV with a camera guy shooting you. Today anything that isn't a 'feature' is considered 'gonzo' - even Stagliano's stuff was fake, the models were hired and everything set up - Midnight Prowl is pretty authentic gonzo.
