It's understandable that Russia acts like this. Many months ago they said they'd use nukes to defend themselves against the coming missile shield, but media and politicians(IMO) didn't take them seriously. I think it's usually a mistake to ignore threats from the Russians...

i just live here, i'm not czech. but there are lots of people who demonstrate already against this. but as we know the government not always listens to their people. it's a special problem with most of the new eastern european union countries - because they do not feel fully accepted by the old western members, they used the conflict around the Iraq war and played nice with George Bush - because they might have thought to gain something by doing so. now they lost on both sides.Comment

The US public has decided they prefer to be liked rather than respected. I am sure that the various global powers have received the message that the US is no longer to be feared. The election of Obama was the equivalent of waving a big white flag to our enemies. If you have any idea depth of knowledge with regards to history and actual events that occurred in South Ossetia and Abkhazia I think it is fair to say the American media doesn't treat Russia too fairly either. Russia packed up and left how many nations peacefully and quietly? And what do they get in return? NATO in their face and hostility. Indeed Putin is a dictator, and far from a perfect character, nor is the nation, but America should be careful not to push them into the cold again. Russia is a friend of Europe and in turn the US, all the really want is some motherfucking respect in their own region. When Russia starts deploying missiles in Mexico and supporting a Latin American socialist military bloc than I think you might finally understand what the US has done to them.
They don't appreciate it, and while the US could wipe them off the map in theory, Russia knows with its nuclear weapons, Europe's reliance on energy and an unwillingness to accept large numbers of deaths of soldiers in the US or Europe it will never happen. i have one question...why the fuck is the US the one putting the missiles up to protect areas in other countries. let the European countries build their own missile defenses with their own money. The US gets mixed up into too much international affairs, and this is what makes the whole fucking world hate us.

they are acting this way for the same reason they went into Georgia... because after 15 years of being broke and having to suck the worlds cock for cash, they are in the black economically, saved up tons of cash from high oil prices and are now in a position to re-assert themselves as a power to be reckoned with and respected. it's something that appeals to Russians at home who have been totally humiliated through and after the fall of communism
