    Back from Family vacation in Vieques, PR... (pics)

    Even though I'm trying to make my life a permanent vacation here in Puerto Rico, I thought I'd take a vacation within a vacation and take the kids to the puertorican off island of Vieques...This is the island that the Navy used part of to have practice bombing runs...Everybody was against the Navy doing it and demanded them to stop..The Navy concedes and then closes the base which fucks thousands of jobs and lowers the economy...

    So I decided to visit and see if I liked the island and I LOVED it...Very charming place..My kids loved it too.


    So here's the beachhouse where we were staying.



    Wild horses in the front yard..If you can catch one, you can keep it..there's plenty around.



    The Gazebo between the front porch and the beach...Great to look at while drinking.



    The dirt road running in front of property..the left of the road is the beach



    Me looking all sexy and chocolate in the water on the reef protected beach



    The water was crystal clear.

                                                  It's also a pity that the cancer rates of the local community are now 30% - 26% above the average.

                                                  Avoid that nice beach and swimming - it's could harm your health. They are still trying to locate and remove unexploded bombs.

                                                  The good news(duh?) is... this operation is now moving to the Nevada desert so that's the next fucked-up location.

                                                                          two, they bombed on a remote part of the island nowhere near where I was..It's a pretty big island...I know for a fact that it's bigger than all of the virgin islands combined.

                                                                                          My aunt lives there, has for about 12 years now I believe. She does reality, so let me know if you are seriously looking to move there. I'll get you in touch with her to find you some nice property.

                                                                                          I've been there 7 times I think, maybe 8? Last time was with the gf and there were portugues manowars washing up on the shore all over the place. We saw a bunch (like 10-12) off the beaches by Esperanza and Sun Bay all washed up and tangled in the seaweed. As well as one which washed up on shore right past us as we were swimming off the west edge of blue beach.

I know they changed owners now) on the other side of Island? and drove all around PR because I was bored off my ass and did not see a single beach that would match St Thomas, St John or Tortola..
                                                                                                                  have you ever seen honey moon beach in St. John? I was looking for diving spots as well and PR had none.. Nothing that would be of my interest.

But there is like a 2-3 month span (off season) which they are abundant. We were there right smack in the middle of that season. Something to do with mating patterns and ocean flow which pushes them right into that area.

                                                                                                                                                                              There's TONS of beautiful beaches in PR..If you're looking for surfing, it's best to go to the west coast...I don't know a lot about diving since I don't do it, but people say that culebra has some of the best diving in the world with lots of visibility...Here is the beach off of culebra, which is another off island of PR.





                                                                                                                                                                              For surfing, there are lots of nice beaches



                                                                                                                                                                              And I've been here awhile and it's RARE to see a beach outside of san juan with trash on it...
