What is it about Obama that excites you?

This is a sincere question from a non supporter. I really don't have a dog in this race because quite frankly McCain makes me sick with his bs. But Obama... I just don't get it.

What is it specifically besides the campaign hype that makes you motivated to vote for him?

Well, for me there are a few things I like about him. First, he has run a masterful campaign. I know that is not the same thing as running the country, but he has shown that he is able to bring good people on board, manage them and multi-task and hold it all together. It could be a sign of good things to come.

Second, clearly the economic policies of the last 8 years are not working. Sure, much of it has to do with the fact that we are spending 10 billion a month in Iraq, but that doesn't change the fact that the economy is in the shitter, job growth is slowed or is reversing and actual incomes of people have been stagnate for some time now. I think it is time to take a look at some different ideas. I don's support everything he has talked about, but clearly what we are doing isn't working so it is time to try a new approach and he brings that.

Third, he seems to be well liked by other countries. I think electing him will immediately help restore our reputation abroad and help us mend some of the fences Bush has spent 8 years tearing down.

Fourth, I love the idea of ignorant, undereducated racists spending at least the next four years stewing in their own bile at the thought of a black guy as president. It is 2008, hating someone because of the color of their skin is so 1985.

Fifth, he seems to want to do something about the healthcare situation in this country. While I am not sure socializing medicine is the answer, I think helping to get insurance for those that don't have it is a good thing and I think it will be good if we can get a system where those that have coverage don't lose it the minute they get sick and actually need it.

Sixth, It will be nice to have a president that can actually vocalize his thoughts in a manner that doesn't make him sound like a bumbling idiot.

Seventh, he wants to end the war in Iraq. I don't think we should have ever been there to begin with. We have wasted enough money and lives, it is time for it to be over.

Eighth, The chances that he will have an administration that will attack our industry are significantly lower than if we would have gotten McCain and Governor Moose Killer.

I guess that is more than just a couple, but that is what comes to mind. I don support everything he stands for or says, but when looking at the choice between he and McCain to me the choice is an obvious one and these are some of the reasons behind my making that choice.

I like the fact that he wants to open lines of communication with other nations where there have only been threats before. It will be refreshing to have a president who's first response to an international crisis will be (allegedly) "ok, how can we work this out" rather than "let's bomb them rag headz...heh... *Bush smirk*".

Economically and socially, meh...I'm not a big fan. Both these guys screaming about cutting taxes while we're spending 11 billion in Iraq every month and just spent 700 billion to bail out wall st. isn't realistic. I am more for state's rights than I am for Uncle Sam sticking his big fucking nose in everywhere. Abortion, Gay marriage, Welfare, etc etc, I don't think the fed should be involved with at all. Separation of church and state, you know, all that good constitution shit that republicans USED to believe in. ;)

Then again, he hasn't been elected yet. I think I'll wait until I see some real action before I get excited about ANY candidate.

Honestly, I like McCain better. He serve his country a long time and in a way I felt he deserve it. Although, I don't agree with Obama for want to tax captial gain and some of his social issues, what concern me is that the last 8 yrs had been horrible like many people are saying, but I don't want the next 4 to be the same or worst than the last 8 with McCain who voted 90% of the time w/ Bush. So a lot of people I'm feeling is going to vote for Obama, but without excitement that what I'm hearing from people around me. I guess it worth it to give "change" a chance.
