Yes I did and I respect and appreciate your honesty and being upfront about certain things, like not paying as much and things like that. I TOTALLY respect honesty..
BUT, let me ask you this. And I know what you mean, I feel the same way in some cases.... but....
when you have a popular site that is converting very well, and I am playing devil's advocate if you will here, wouldn't the average webmaster who knows how to work the search engines feel more comfortable promoting that popular site as opposed to the ones that are NOT so popular? Wouldn't the average surfer be more looking for those popular sites? Therefore making the ones that know their SE being better able to work that popular site?
I totally get what you are saying, and for me, myself and probably a few others, would prefer those less travelled places, to get a jump on those that will come along and pick them up after they are popular. lol But some prefer the more travelled roads. If I can do SE well, which I kind of do, I would opt for the more populated sites.
Like I said, to each his own in his own style.
