    Witnesses: US helicopters attack Syrian village

    TV report says seven people killed in attack of American helicopters near country's Iraqi border; residents say helicopters carrying US soldiers raided Hwijeh village

    Syria's state-run television and witnesses said Sunday evening that US Military helicopters have attacked an area along the country's border with Iraq, causing casualties.



    The report quoted unnamed Syrian officials and said the area is near the Syrian border town of Abu Kamal. It gave no other details on Sunday's attack.



    Local residents told The Associated Press by telephone that two helicopters carrying US soldiers raided Hwijeh village, 17 kilometers inside Syria's border, killing seven people and wounding five others.



    The US Military in Baghdad had no immediate comment.

                                              Running raids in Pakistan, attacking villages in Syria, butting heads with Iran... all the while fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Total fucking madness.

                                              Of course the conspiracy theory guys would say this is Bush's attempt to start more wars so he can declare a state of emergency and remain in power for a third term. Don't laugh because he can if he wants. Suspending the Constitution is a walk in the park for Bush after everything else he's done.
