            This is funny. Apparently one of the missles landed closer to Russia than Japan.

            Now the pentagon is claiming that because North Korea's long term missle failed so quickly, they didn't have to "shoot it down", but they were prepared to do so.

            I bet nobody would have shot the missle out of the air, even if it didn't fail.

                                                                                            Interesting concept really. However, note that the "Korea Thing" has been an issue for nearly fifty years.

                                                                                            Nothing has happened there for fifty years, and all of sudden they need to start doing such things. As if their country is currently being threatened. They should invest their efforts into something better for their general population.

                                                                                            And if they think the US is "distracted" by Iraq.... Keep in mind it's only a few hours effot to launch a few hundred missiles to teach them a lesson.

                                                                                            Not to mention that Bush is coming to the close of his second term and doesn't care what people think now.

                                                                                                            The US has had considerable interest and control in the Japanese military since the WWII. See the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between the United States and Japan. The US still maintains a large military presence in Japan with airbases and other military installations.
