Jellyfish, this bitch got me during the columbus day regatta. It really felt like getting punched with a bunch of hot needles, followed by an hour of burning.

At first I thought it wouldnt look too bad.

20 minutes later

Yes I pissed on it and yes it helped.

I watched one of those Beach Patrol shows where a bunch of people were getting stung by jellyfish and complaining to the life guards about it, and they were seeking medical attention so the lifeguards were pouring on antidote to the jellyfish sting and after the people thanked them and told the patrolmen they felt better and went on their way, the patrolmen confessed it was jut water they were pouring on the victims.

I believe it, the pain totally went away after about an hour. Even today, a few days after, it looks like I got lit up by a paintball gun and it doesnt hurt at all.

Fresh bottled water will deactivate the nematocysts (the stinging cells) and take the pain away within minutes.

A little meat tenderizer works good as well. I keep some in my gear bag for when I go diving.

Put some yellow mustard on it. It helps. Trust me. Had this happen a long time ago, and used the Mustard trick. Worked like a charm.

I got stung jumping waves in the Gulf of Mexico near Corpus Christi when I was about 13 or so. Felt something burning on my thigh.. reached down to feel...yuck.. then it was gone.. hurt for a few days and I had a bruise over a good portion of my right thigh for the better part of a month.
