This is completely wrong. The US is one of the major focus points in the international community. They even show the Presidential debates live and in full around international countries.

If anything, it's the other way around. US people are so self-centered because the US has been a powerhouse in the international community for so long that they aren't exposed to international news, politics, and business because we aren't effected by it as much.

The fact that what happens in the US effects almost every international community makes international countries more aware of what is going on with the US.
