i think the russia connection is on a pretty high level, not street mafia but the capital behind, the iceland banks are know to "laundry" the money by investing it in real estate and asset based companies mainly in scandinavia. several business in denmark, sweden, norway and finland will have big trouble coming due to this..
we are talking major department stores, landmark buildings, airline/charter operations etc.
personally i have never been there but it might be a good spot for a low budget vacation next summer...
