I've changed mine 3 times in a year. One when I left he country for a month, once when i got back, and once i won a huge poker tournament and was really happy. Otherwise everyone doesnt need to know what im doing day to day, and if they do they are 'real' friends and call and find out.
My status only changes because it's hooked up to my XBL gamertag. I never really bother to change it otherwise.
