I hope the people that were making the callous remarks have nightmares for the rest of their lives for contributing to the situation. Its very possible that the kid was going to jump regardless but I am sure any taunting that may have happened didn't help.
I had a cousin that was arrested for something similiar. At a casino in Atlantic City there was a guy on the marina side at one of the casinos threatening to jump. My jackass cousin decided to jump in his boat with a megaphone and go to the marina. He lasted about 10 minutes yelling through the megaphone at the guy to jump before he was hauled out of his boat, which was impounded. and arrested on a slew of charges. They charged him with everything that they could and he deserved every bit of it.
