-And 2nd, don't make it sound exactly like the original because you're not bringing anything new to the song and its experience to the listenner so why bother?

The Killers definately made it their own and modernized the song but they als kept the hypnotic drum beat and guitars.
Very good post.

Anyone make any new great rock/pop song discoveries? Doesn't matter if it's old or new. A good song is a good song no matter the decade. Just as long as it is a new discovery of your's.
