does anybody else feel this way? or am I just going crazy?

This new era of GFY all started with the sig market. Since then, post whores have come on strong, and now a year or two later, they have effectively diminished the usefulness of GFY.

I still dig this place though. I like the fact that one can post whatever they want and for the most part not have to worry about etiquette or moderation. Other webmaster boards suck because they are way over moderated, move slowly, and have like 10 stickys on the first page.

gfy admins/mods = some of the biggest fggts ever sometimes

very very biased bannings, censorships, closing of threads, etc.

I've never disagreed with any of their bannings. About 95% of the people banned, I already had on ignore anyway.

As far as censorship and closing of threads, it is well within the limits of what I consider acceptable. The admins moderate only enough to keep their rules in place and keep the board from destroying itself. I have no problems with that.

Agree.. never came across anything as absurd as this - and purports to be a "resource". The usefulness is degraded to a level it's getting a total waste of time.

right...like when sponsor X that has paid advertising spots on gfy gets some say so in a banning when sponsor Y who does not have a paid spot gets zero say if they want someone banned.

Dunno a cure... but slam all spamming of sponsor sigs by affilates. If anyone has something to promote, like an actual sponsor or a "context relevant" site - fine. The rest is just trash.

The whole thing could be remedied in a couple minutes just by adding a "Business related" section to the board... Keep it monitored and delete any posts not .... business related, with business-like posts and replies...

Kinda hard to keep it professional when it's called, "Fucking around & Program Discussion"
