"THIS WEBSITE IS CLOSED DUE TO THE ILLEGAL LINKING TO AND POSTING OF CRIMINAL FREEHOSTING PAGES.
TGP WEBSITES ARE BEING INVESTIGATED AND WILL BECOME EXTINCT DUE TO THE LIABILITY.

    Closed By APIC-WORLDWIDE "

TGP websites are being investigated,, what are they talking about?

Wow, absolut was pretty big too, hm quite odd. I think its implying some of the freehost had some illegal content in their servers , and they caught absolut linking to these servers ?

        thats messed up

A lot of tgp galleries have unlicenced content on them.

Bullshit is right. It's not illegal to *link* to copyrighted or illegal content, as dictated by our courts. Otherwise search engines would have been out of business a long time ago...

Wonder what the real reason is.

haha.. wonder what the real reason for closing down was. APIC doesn't have that power.. i've been threatened by them several times for running a porn message board. fools.

Sounds like a hackers idea of a sick joke. I don't think APIC would post a message like that.

Let me set the record straight before all of you make up your own theories about this.
Yes this morning, APIC has put enough pressure on absolute series to force him to close. The reason is that absolute series was linking to galleries with illegal content. Many of the galleries were actually created by absolute series and hosted on numerous free hosts.

The quest by APIC and content providers and sponsors, is to close down any and all sites that allow copyright violations to exist.

They will and already are investigating many free hosts and especially tgp's.

Please Note, it's not the free hosts that are causing this, it's the cheaters....

in A.S's case - if he was building infracting galleries - he is toast.

I don't think the legit webmaster has anything to fear. The sponsors (and yes I am one of them) contribute .. in part .. to the complexity of this problem.

As an owner of various tgps - we probably get 1000's of submissions a day - and on quick glance we check to see if the content looks good, if the pics open to larger images, and to make sure you aren't redirected.

But the sleugh of sponsors that give away free content makes it impossible for us to police the content - to decide whether it is illegal or not. It is this inherent impracticality that will prevent APIC and other crusaders from crucifying the Good and Decent webmaster.

Try to keep your nose clean, and don't worry about this drama that is floating around... cuz it won't effect you.

what do you think LF? If we aren't knownly thumbing our nose at copyrights...is there anything for us to be worried about???

As a service provider you are only liable if you disregard any DMCA compliant notices that claim copyright infringement for images that are served from your network. My whole view on this is that Mr. Easton is full of hot air, and has never won a real court case concerning the DMCA. He likes to blow smoke up your ass, and threaten people, but other than that he doesn't really accomplish anything! I agree that copyright theft is wrong, but trying to go after ISP's & tgp owners when they comply with the law is not going to further his cause, it just gets a lot of people pissed off at him

I have spoke with Steve at APIC today in great length. He and I go way back) he is not a bad guy like some of you think. He works for the content providers and/or models etc..., which ultimately supply all of the paysites, and honest webmasters with their content. He is not out to harm anyone at all, rather to protect some of our rights, from cheaters.

Some of you are asking me why I'm even involved with this Absolute Series incident. Well the reason is simple, Absolute Series hosted MANY galleries of his own on my hosting, and yes, many of them had illegal content..

I also spoke with the owner of Absolute Series today (a long time friend of mine). He is a decent guy, but didn't listen to multiple warnings from both APIC and myself in regards to some of the content he was using. So as of this moment Absolute Series is closed down. As to the future of it, I can't comment on that, because it's not my business and I don't know...

It's in Steve's best interest financially to bust sites like Absolute Series... So he's a sort of "opportunist hero" -- like a greedy Robin Hood -- ok I can deal with that...

Well at least we know now (at least I think we do) that Absolute Series was warned first... At first we were all led to believe that there was no warning given.

                                        ?

Well at least we know now (at least I think we do) that Absolute Series was warned first... At first we were all led to believe that there was no warning given.

                                            ?

Arent we all opportunists of some sort ??? Steve is only out catching cheaters, and yes I can assure you that Absolute Series was given more then ample warnings about the use of illegal content, not only by APIC, but by me personally.

Look Absolute Series is a friend that I've worked with and known for a long time, this whole incident was brought on only by his ignoring the warnings given to him. Lightning Free actually gave him fully licensed content to use on our hosting, and he still used stolen content.

It's a pretty cut and dry issue. You can pay for content now or you can PAY for content later.

Enough with the whining about a tgp being shut down -- this is a prime reason that people don't make as much as they did even a year ago.

If there were no more free shit -- freehosting, free content, free pictures -- we'd all make more money.

Surfers and broke ass kids without ten bucks who happen to have a computer are all so conditioned to everyone doing everything for free for them they don't know how to run a business. So what do they do?

                                              I rest my case.

I wouldn't have been nearly so patient as Lightning was with this whole issue.

If you decide to ignore it, and it is a valid complaint then you take your fate into your own hands, which is what it sounds like Absolute Series did! I think that most of the ISP's on this list will agree that there is no way that we can police the 1000's of sites that we host. If we had to, then your hosting bill would be much much more than it is. That was all I was commenting on
