As for this being the "new" Knight Rider, have you all already forgotten about Team Knight Rider where they had 5 different talking vehicles? It was so bad that it didn't last long.

well did you watch the 2 hour movie (backdoor pilot) for the series
because they hinted at people comming after them and the whole first love thing between the two characters.
so it didn't seem that rushed to me, however if you didn't see the movie then yeah i can see how that may seem rushed.
