Why dont people like Carolina? Seems as though no-one wanted them to win.

Probably cause it's a College Basketball state and North Carolinians aren't as big a hockey fans than Edmonton.

They're still the fucking Hartford Whalers... always will be...

Not to worry, the Carolina dynasty ends with 1 Cup...they might not even win the division next year if Atlanta find some goaltending, or if Washington finds a center to play with Ovechkin and a defensive defenseman or two...

Until the Lightning find a goaltender to play the way Khabibulin did in 2003-04, they're barely a play-off team. Right now, in the Southeast, the goaltending rankings are like this:

1) Carolina: Ward starts, Gerber is trade bait, unknown back up.
2) Washington: Kolzig starts, Johnson backs up
3) Florida: Auld is probably the starter..
4) Atlanta: Is Lehtonen the starter? Is Shields?
5) Tampa Bay: Sean Burke and John Graeme... yuck...

Don't get me wrong, Tampa can score lots of goals, and are an exciting team to watch, but their netminding is their downfall, and despite all the rule changes, if you have a problem in goal, you have a problem since their mistakes go on the scoreboard.
