Actions speak louder than words - repay those you've 'taken' from (to not be harsher). It won't make bring your friendship back, but at least they will not have paid a 'costly' price to learn who you are.
Maybe I misunderstood the thread but from my understanding - it's not a matter of forgetting, it's a matter of *forgetting* and using that money for something else and not being able to pay it back for a long while but bullshitting & saying it was already taken care of.
