I wouldn't doubt if the tracks are still in use. They'll just be waiting for a bridge building crew to come in a fix shit up before they run a train on it. The ties aren't rotted, the railhead is hardly flattened out at all, bolts all look nice and tight, ballast is up to the tops of the ties with no grass growing through, most of the ties are still holing on tight to the flange, and the crossing planks and all right where they need to be. I'm guessing there used to be a bridge crossing the river right about the middle of the sagging spot? Looks like a pretty recent washout to me. I'm sure it won't stay hanging like that very long, there'll be a crew at work soon enough. Rail transport is big money, and they won't have it hanging like that for long. I'd say you come along right on time.
