Unfuckingbelievable. How can Americans hate Keith Olbermann?

So I was watching some youtube videos on the commentaries of Keith Olbermann, and I was stunned that there was actually someone who was absolutely truthful on national television (and not a comedian) regarding the facts about American politics. Everything he says, every point he makes is backed by hard evidence and proof, and not just opinionated.

And yet I read the comments on these videos, and I am absolutely shocked at how fucking stupid some people - despising this man like sane people would despise Bill O'Reilly.

It's funny, the left say the media is right. The right say the media is clearly left.

The guy has some points, but at the same time he is stupid. As if we don't know what people he is talking about it. Which is probably why nobody followed up with, what people?

He will "never" get support by saying "you let 4,000 people die for nothing" - Even if the war was illegal, lied to, ect.. the people related to these 4,000 people will never think they died for nothing and neither will the people.

I agree with most of what he says. What I don't agree with is that he is becoming exactly like Bill O'reily, just on the left, which makes him a bonehead.

I could go on the television and say the same things Olberman does and so could most people on this board. He's not saying anything liberals don't already know. What WE NEED is someone smart enough to package that so we can convince conservatives.

My only problem with him was he tried a bit too hard. I'd prefer him to have been a bit more snarky than "outraged", it's definately a great loss to be without one of the counter-balances to the right wing douches. It's a shame people can only handle their left wing douches with a sprinkling of comedy. It's like having to take the medicine of truth with a teaspoon of honey to help it go down... Or that Al Franken, Jon Stewart, Bill Maher have to throw bombs from behind a wall of comedy for fear of being seen as rabid and outraged like Olbermann. 10 minute monologues are never going to go down as well as jokes or focussed and short monosyllabic rants on fox talking points. Maybe he should have talked about Bush's "terrorist fist jabs" instead.

It's really pretty simple what happened.

Olbermann has the experience and credentials and intelligence to be a serious news anchor/journalist.

But when he went to MSNBC this time around, he (and MSNBC) chose to go the opinion route. And it has worked out well for him, to the tune of 4-5 mill a year or something like that.

But THEN.....MSNBC decided to use him as an ANCHOR on their election/convention coverage as well.
And he took his opinions with him to the convention's anchor desk, and made them more than obvious. It was, in a word, embarassing.

All of the journalists at NBC, who had to appear on-air with him during the election/convention coverage, were royally pissed, and there was an internal revolution.

Something had to give - and it was his election anchor duties.

Nothing's wrong with doing opinion on-air. But something's VERY wrong with doing opinion while anchoring news coverage.

MSNBC should have realized it was inevitable, but they've put their eggs in Olbermann's basket so they tried it anyway --- and then had to fix it. And they have, with a major dent in their rep.
