HELP!! How do I get rid of this virus?!?!?

poor shoey! he wants everyone to know he has the "W32.Nimda.A@mm(html)" virus. he siad he found this link that might fix it. i sure hope it does.

I just had it myself and found these two pages helpful:
Norton just updated their virus def. on Nov. 1st, get it and run it on the whole system and quar. infected files.
Follow the disinfection instructions on this page: http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/nimda.shtml
I found that those removal programs did fuck all to get rid of it.

After I did that my sytem ran fine again!

I can't believe this shit. My computer is running a denial of service to ME!

I starts fake programs that just run my resources at 100%. I can't even open my calculator.

As it turns out, the virus came in on a forced download, and the first thing it does is creates a guest account on Windows with full administrative priveledges. Then it starts server host software. Pretty smart.

Then any hacker with my IP address can log into my computer, and basically browse it as if they were right here on my computer.

It's cool. They can set new passwords to everything on my computer, they can gain access to all my finances thanks to Microsoft Money 2K pro. They can gain access to every single username and password to every account via File Maker Pro database. They can set up key stroke logging software. They can even hack into other computers, using my computer as the attacker. And the best part is, they run an eraser program on all log files to hide their tracks. How nice of them.

Let me go on the record and say that I would love nothing more than to chop off their hands. If I knew I could get away with it, and if I knew where one was, I'd kill me a hacker.

Needless to say I just dropped a few hundred $$ on as much security software as I could!

It looks as if everything I have will be lost. All images, all templates, all html files, all logged email... everything...
This lovely virus attacks html files.

I guess it's not that bad. It could be worse. According to Symantes it's a threat level 4. One away from being the worst.

Hey at least it's not a threat level 5.

Sorry to hear your in the shit RedShoe.

After you rebuild perhaps you can avoid losing everything ever
again by a few safety back-up strategies.

1) Burn all valuable data to a CD-R. No phukin' virus, no matter
how smart, can meld onto files on a CD-R. Even if the CD-R is in
the tray.

2) Get a virus proggy that runs from floppies like PC-Cillin.
If you ever get phuk'd you can shut down and boot into the virus
checker and (at least) quarantine the bastard files b4 they link-lock
and shit all over the rest of your system.

3) Save loads of time and ghost your HD. If you had a ghost of
your HD now it wouldn't be too much of an inconvenience other
than waiting for fdisk, format, and ghost copy.

Too little too late for you now but phuk those phukers from ever
kicking you in the balls again.
