They really should not attack this issue. You beat up on a mother trying to hold her family together while dealing with a teen pregnancy and you're going to push women voters right into their laps.
Remember when Hillary was down in the polls and she cried a day before the primary. Women came out in droves and she won despite trailing by 10% in the polls.
Women hate other women, but if they see another woman getting a bad rap, the sisterhood gene kicks in.
