Well yea imagine that real things of value were deposited into the treasury for each dollar created.. What a concept we once had...
Just like everything else thats great with this country they give it to us then rip it away and pretend we never had the right to it in the first place.
If you don't like the way things work, no one is stopping you from buying gold coins...

They are the half-cent coin, the two-cent coin, the three-cent coin, the half-dime coin (although it was replaced by the five-cent coin), a twenty-cent coins, and the various denominations of gold coins. Although the Mint does produce a series of gold bullion coins, these are not intended for circulation."
Otherwise the US dollar and it's larger kin don't have any intrinsic value, other that that of the current flux of the market. I love getting the green, but don't you feel cheated that its worth has declined?
